When Big Hair Ruled the ABA

Darnell Hillman's "Mushroom Cloud" afro towered over all others in the ABA.

Afros created some serious unofficial competition between ABA players. Other players - such as Julius Erving and Michael Jackson - aspired to match Hillman. But they always seemed to come up a "hair" short.

At the 1997 ABA Reunion, Hillman was proud to finally receive some official confirmation of his feat - he received the coveted "Biggest ABA Afro" trophy.
