From Jim O'Brien's 1972-73 Complete Handbook of Pro Basketball:
A great offensive guard. Almost impossible to stop. Likes to lean and twist . . . Has super quickness and awareness. Is a super shooter, although with limited range. Seems to shoot best when he's bellying at top of key with someone . . . "He's even better," says Rick Barry, "when he's got people hanging all over him." . . . He's a perfect example of a guy given a chance to play by the new league and turning into a star . . . One of the few players who made the ABA All-Star team the first five years of the league, four of them as a starter . . . Second season in Miami he averaged 27.4 points when coach told him to shoot minimum of 30 times per game . . . Has to rank among the most personable players in the ABA
