Ty Lawson, Nene, Danilo Galinari, & Co. will wear the 1975-76 ABA Nuggets uniform.
The 1975-76 Nuggets season was perhaps the most memorable season in franchise history.
It was David Thompson's rookie year - Thompson (#33, below right) chose to sign with the ABA Nuggets instead of the NBA Atlanta Hawks, and turned out to be the best Nugget ever. Thompson was the ABA Rookie of the Year for the 1975-76 season, and also won the MVP award in the 1976 All-Star Game. He also participated in the very first first slam dunk contest at halftime of that All-Star Game.
Also, Denver acquired long-time favorite Dan Issel (#25, at far left photo). "The Horse" played 9 total seasons with Denver. Both Thompson and Issel are members of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
On the court, the Nuggets won 60 games, beat the ABA All-Stars in the 1976 ABA All-Star game, and made it to the 1976 ABA Finals (losing in heartbreaking fashion to Dr. J and the New York Nets).
